I am what I wear.
I know for sure that if I was not an Interior Designer I would be in the fashion business in some shape or form. I have been playing with different looks, following trends, but often not, since I can remember. I tore off sleeves on dresses, frayed my jeans, dyed my shirts, and layered, layered, layered..often to my parents dismay! Fashion is where I learned to play with texture and mix colors, with the only risk being to my reputation in a pretty conservative East Coast town.
I have now been witness to my own children experimenting with fashion in a big way, and even though at times I want to put in my two cents, I know that this stage is crucial for their creative development no matter what path they may take. As a family we can spend hours rummaging through second hand stores or at the Flea Market, and I can see the confidence it gives them by taking risks and being rewarded for their individuality.
For me, being thoughtful about what I wear and how I am going to express myself each day helps me get my creative juices flowing and helps me stayed jazzed all day long. When clients see me making a statement or having fun with fashion they trust that I will embrace their projects with the same passion and sense of adventure!
